About Us

Obertron Industries commenced operation in Hawera, South Taranaki in 1978 as a Plastics Electrical Products manufacturer and specialist provider of Industrial Electrical services. It has since grown into a five-division enterprise known as the Obertech Group, with a strong commitment to innovation and customer-centric solutions. This effort and achievement has been recognised with business awards such as the “1998 WestpacTrust Taranaki Business of the Year Award” and “Certificates of Excellence in Innovation and Manufacturing”.

Obertech Groups five divisions provide a comprehensive range of products and solutions that span across a wide range of industries and customers, throughout the country. Our divisions include Electrical and Instrumentation, Manufacturing, Security, Computing (including Telecommunications and Office Supplies) and Technical which includes Computer Networking/Data Communications and Fibre Optics. Each division operates independently directly complementing each other and resulting in an overall synergy that provides integrated and complete solutions to our valued customers.

Obertech is focused on providing high quality products and services, having obtained Telarc ISO9001:2008 initial certification in July 1997. We also place a major importance on safe working environments for our Team, Clients and the general public alike. We have since 2003achieved “Tertiary” ACC Workplace Safety Management Certification.

In 2001 an Electrical Division in New Plymouth was formed. This division now trades under Obertech Group Ltd and provides electrical expertise to industrial and commercial throughout Taranaki.

2005 saw the forming of Powerworx, a lines division servicing Taranaki providing design, upgrade and repair of overhead and underground power supplies throughout Taranaki. In 2012 we extended our resource base to service the greater Taranaki – Wanganui Region as well as other areas in New Zealand.
